Organic Roasted Sencha Leaf 80g
Furuta, Nishinoomote City, Kagoshima Prefecture Note: Freshness is important for tea. After opening, remove as much air as possible before storing and consume as soon as possible. This tea is grown without using any pesticides, chemical fertilizers or herbicides. We are a family run small tea farm in Tanegashima. In 1909, Sukeshichi Matsushita and two others from Shizuoka Prefecture moved to Tanegashima as a suitable place for tea cultivation, and began to develop tea in the mountains. We are the descendants of Sukeshichi Matsushita. Tanegashima is a remote island belonging to Kagoshima Prefecture, and taking advantage of its warm climate, it is known as “the fastest new tea village in Japan”, and plucking of first-class tea begins around the end of March ahead of the rest of the country. Since the fifth generation was allergic, the fourth generation, the father of the fifth generation, said, “We can’t continue like this.” From around 2003, he switched to farming with less pesticides, and in 2012, completely shifted to organic JAS I started working on getting certified. Currently, the 4th and 5th generations and their families run the tea business, and we consistently manage, manufacture, and sell green tea and Japanese black tea without using any pesticides, chemical fertilizers, or herbicides. Our “Matsushita Seicha” tea gardens are independent fields in the mountains, and the tea fields are kept at a certain distance from the surrounding fields, so there is almost no worry about the adhesion of pesticides to the surrounding fields. Matsushita Seicha does not use any herbicides, so weeds in the tea garden are removed by hand. In addition, weeds around the tea garden are cut by machine. Organic JAS standards allow the use of some pesticides, but “Matsushita Seicha” does not use any pesticides.
