AKB48 will publish the 1st photo book of Okabe In, a popular member of AKB48 who has been selected 12 times, to commemorate her graduation from the group.

The photos were taken in her hometown Hitachi City, Ibaraki Prefecture, where she also serves as “Ibaraki Ambassador,” and in Okinawa Prefecture.

Under the theme of “a journey of reset and restart,” the shooting started in front of Hitachi Station on the JR Joban Line, a place she chose as “a place that holds a special place in her heart,” and she also took on her first full-fledged gravure, including swimsuit and lingerie scenes, which she said she had “almost no experience with before.

While maintaining the beauty that earned her a nomination as one of the “100 Most Beautiful Faces in the World” in 2022 and 2011, as well as the dainty idol image that has attracted many fans over the past 10 years, the collection also includes many seductive cuts that overturn the “traditional Okabe Rin” image.

This book offers a multifaceted view of Okabe not only as an idol, but also as a woman.

When I heard that Kazutaka Nakamura, a photographer whom I have admired for a long time and who has taken many of my favorite photographs and photo books, would be taking the photographs, I was hesitant, I was turned on at once. From that day on, I did everything I could for the shoot, starting with a two-hour walk every morning. I was so involved in the project that I had a “loss” when I got back from the location shoot, and I think it will be a great book, so I definitely hope many people will pick up a copy!

Okabe Rin Okabe Rin

Born November 7, 1996 in Ibaraki Prefecture. She is 159cm tall.

She started her career as a member of AKB48 Team 8 in 2014, and was selected for the title song of AKB48’s 50th single “NOVEMBER ANKLET” for the first time in 2005. In December of the same year, it was announced that she would concurrently serve as a member of Team A, and she became Team A captain.

On November 7, 2011, she announced her graduation from AKB48. Her last day of activity is scheduled for early April 2012. She has also served as “Ibaraki Ambassador” since 2006.

She is good at illustrations and is also active as an actor, playing the heroine Winry Rockbell in last year’s stage production of “Fullmetal Alchemist” and Wendy in the Broadway musical “Peter Pan.

The second production of the stage “Fullmetal Alchemist” is scheduled to be performed at the Nippon Seinenkan Hall in Tokyo from June 8 (Sat), 2024, and at Sky Theater MBS in Osaka from June 29 (Sat), 2024.
